little white's secrets

I am little. I am white.

Articles, pictures, and videos that sumarize my day; conversations with friends; and nearly forgotten memories from once upon a time.

Someone commented on this video saying:

How about seperation between sex and state.  Its hard to not think the Lgbt is not guilty of what christians do to them and vise versa.  I personally do not like the school cramming Lgbt down my kids throat just as much as muslim or Christian faith.

This was my response:

“Cramming” in what sense?  I recall very vividly what I was taught in school about religion.  I remember learning about the histories, the beliefs and changes to those beliefs over the centuries (primarily due to cultural changes), and how religion has affected art, science, literature, etc.

What about the teaching of black culture?  Once upon a time, white schools were not allowed to teach white students that taboo subject…

I think it is fair to teach children in school similar histories of LGBT.  In no way would I consider this “cramming” it down the students’ throats.  I think the only way it would be inappropriate is if teachers give their biased opinion on the matter.  Ideally, school is a place of objective learning, not an institution of opinion.

It saddens me to see how blatantly prejudiced people can be.  Perhaps without even realizing it.
